In a release, LBPD says that at about 4:30 p.m., the San Diego County Sheriff's Department notified LBPD that they were investigating the discovery of a deceased infant, knowing that Long Beach Police were actively investigating a case involving a missing infant. "San Diego authorities found a deceased infant in a dumpster at a commercial strip mall in the 600 block of Palm Drive in Imperial Beach. LBPD detectives traveled to San Diego to confer with authorities. The San Diego Coroner's Office confirmed the deceased infant as Eliza Delacruz," the release states. Long Beach detectives notified next of kin before advising the public & media. The triple shooting occurred at early evening Sat. Jan. 3 in the 100 block of W. 51st Street. Two of the shooting victims were last reported in critical but stable condition at local hospitals; a third victim has been treated and released. LBPD said on Saturday evening that the suspect is described as a male with dark skin, possibly Hispanic or African-American. No vehicle was seen leaving the location. LBREPORT.com was first to report the triple shooting on Saturday (Jan. 3) and then provided continuing updates on our front page (www.LBREPORT.com) as LBPD provided additional information and sought the public's assistance in locating the child.
