(Jan. 6, 2015) -- The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors today (Jan. 6) approved a motion by Supervisor Don Knabe to establish a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved in the death of Eliza Delacruz.

"I made this motion in collaboration with the Long Beach Police Department to support their aggressive work to bring to justice the person(s) who committed this heinous crime," Supervisor Knabe said, adding :"We are asking anyone who has any information to please come forward -- they can remain anonymous."

As first reported and with continuing coverage by LBREPORT.com, LBPD says someone entered a NLB residence (100 block W. 51st St. west of Long Beach Blvd.) and shot and wounded the infant's mother, her father and her uncle and then abducted the 3 week old child. The next day (Sun. Jan. 4), Eliza's body was discovered in a San Diego area (Imperial Beach) trash dumpster.

At yesterday's briefing, Chief Luna said, "We need to get the coward who committed this violent and senseless act off the street but we absolutely need the public’s help to do this...We need to hear from you."

Chief Luna said LBPD is "proactively working this case but we need help from anyone who may have knowledge to what led to the shooting, the kidnapping and this awful murder. We will be working with the sketch artist as our investigation continues. Somebody somewhere saw what happened and we need you to come forward."

LBPD says little is known about the suspect, who is described as a male with dark skin, possibly Hispanic or African-American.

The suspect remains outstanding. No one has come forward with information.

LBPD urges anyone with information to call Long Beach Homicide Detectives Donald Goodman and Mark Mattia at (562) 570-7244. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or text TIPLA plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES), or visit www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
