LBPD Finds, Arrests And D.A. Charges Three Men With Murder/Attempt Murder In Alleged Gang Related Summer-2015 Shootings In Central LB, Willmore City and East Village

(Jan. 29, 2016) -- Three men allegedly involved in gang-related summer-2015 shootings in/near Central LB, Willmore City and the East Village are now in custody and face multiple life sentences -- murder and attempt murder charges -- as a result of intense work by LBPD Homicide and Gang Investigators and LBPD's Directed Enforcement officers.

Residents of the neighborhoods likely recall the shootings:

  • July 28, 2015, about 4:30 p.m., a no-hit shooting in the 700 block of Washington Place.
  • August 24, 2015, about 9:30 p.m. man (adult) shot, 500 block E. Burnett St. Minutes earlier officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. 16th St. regarding two pedestrians struck by a vehicle...and LBPD says investigators determined the same suspects were involved in both incidents.
  • September 7, 2015, about 9:51 p.m., in the 400 block of W. 5th St., James Ratliff, 34, of LB is shot and dies.
  • September 16, 2015, about 12:49 a.m., Rodrigo Perez Salazar, 24, of Long Beach is shot and dies.

In a release, LBPD says three men (adults) were arraigned today (Jan. 29) and a fourth alleged associate was also arraigned in connection with an L.A. incident.

In a release, LBPD says that after a lengthy investigation, Homicide and Gang investigators with Directed Enforcement officers arrested two of the individuals; a third was already in custody on unrelated charges. Detectives presented their cases to the L.A. County D.A.'s office which filed the following charges:

  • Semaj Rashaad Harris, 24, of LB (arrested Jan. 21) is charged with two counts of murder, six counts of attempt murder, and one count of shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

  • Deante McNeese, 22, of LB (arrested Jan. 21), is charged with two counts of murder, six counts of attempt murder, and one count of shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

  • Sohntee Laray Webb, 24, of Palos Verdes (already in custody) is charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempt murder, and one count of shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Webb is being held in Los Angeles County Jail with bail set at $4,050,000.

[LBPD release text[ During the course of their investigation, Gang Investigation detectives were contacted by Los Angeles Police Department detectives regarding a gang-related no-hit shooting that possibly involved the same suspects. The incident occurred on July 1, 2015, around 1:30 p.m., in the area of West Pico Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue. In addition to Harris and McNeese, Long Beach investigators determined Traveon Miller was involved and arrest warrants for all three were issued. On January 25, 2016, Long Beach Police arrested Traveon Armando Miller, 24 years old and a resident of Long Beach, on the $1,585,000 arrest warrant for attempt murder. Miller was also arraigned today.

All four remain in custody and face multiple life sentences.
