(Jan. 22, 2015) -- LB's Animal Care Services Bureau (animal control) reports the best numbers it has ever recorded in terms of fewer dogs and cats impounded (an almost 11% reduction) and 40% fewer dogs and 20% fewer cats euthanized in 2015 compared to 2014. Compared to 2013, that's a 50% decrease for dogs and a 44% decrease for cats, meaning 2,000 fewer dogs + cats euthanized than two years ago.
At the same time, the City operated agency managed by Ted Stevens reports live release rates (percentage of animals that leave with a positive outcome such as return to owner, adoption or transfer to a rescue group) of 83% for dogs, 54% for cats...and 88% for rabbits. [Scroll down for further.] |
