(Jan. 7, 2016) -- LBPD has provided additional information related to a heavy police presence, intense search, SWAT and K9 deployment in the Wrigley area in the after-midnight/predawn hours of Jan. 4. [LBPD release text] On Monday, January 4, 2016, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Long Beach Police responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Chestnut Avenue regarding what was originally thought to be a burglary, which resulted in the arrest of four male subjects, and subsequent charges being filed. "The arrest of all four suspects was a direct result of the quick response and actions of the responding officers, their immediate coordination of resources, and the community members who didn't hesitate to pick-up the phone to call 9-1-1," stated Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna. LBPD's release indicates that on Wednesday, January 6, 2015, detectives presented the case to the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, which filed charges alleging home invasion robbery, fleeing a pursuing peace officer while driving recklessly, a concealed firearm in a vehicle, filed against two individuals (21 yr old from Lakewood, 18 yr old from LB) with those charges plus two others -- concealed firearm on a person and assault on a police dog -- alleged against a 19 year old from Carson. A fourth suspect is 14-year-old from Long Beach, charged with three counts of home invasion robbery and one count possession of a firearm.
