(Jan. 25, 2018.) -- After the close of the business day, the LB City Manager's office confirmed what LBREPORT.com learned unofficially earlier in the day and was working to confirm: Marie Knight, Director of LB's Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Marine, will be exiting her position to become Director of Community Services for the City of Huntington Beach.
The City of LB's release cited no reasons for her exit. Ms. Knight was unavailable for comment throughout the day, and there's no information available (yet) from the City of Huntington Beach. Ms. Knight, a veteran of nearly 30 years in local government or non-profit leadership positions, was chosen by City Manager West to head LB's Parks, Rec & Marine Department in February 2016. Prior to coming to LB, she worked in community services with the City of Orange. Ms. Knight isn't the only LB city management vet who headed south to "surf city." Lori Ann Guzmán (who remains a LB resident and was appointed to LB's Harbor Commission by Mayor Bob Foster) was the City of LB's Controller and later Chief Financial Officer before becoming the City of HB's Director of Finance. Ms. Knight’s last day with the City of LB will be February 23.
