(July 1, 2002) -- A man ran for his life and avoided being shot last night in the 500 block of East 23d Street (between LB Blvd. and Atlantic Ave.) in the 6th Council district after an assailant (accompanied by two others) fired at him twice...and missed.
LBPD says the victim was talking to a friend in a car outside a residence when three suspects pulled up in a vehicle, two jumped out, one armed with a handgun and demanded money. The victim said he didn't have any, jumped over the hood and fled as the suspect shot at him.
The shot missed.
Police say the suspects then jumped back in the car, sped off and fired a second shot at their intended victim. It missed too.
The suspects are at large.
