(July 7, 2002) -- An early morning shooting today in the area of 7th St. and Alamitos Ave. (1st district near border with 2d) injured two people, one of whom required surgery for a potentially life threatening wound.
LBPD says that at roughly 1:30 a.m., a group of people pulled into the gas station (and one went to use the restroom), and at some point another subject arrived at the gas station. According to the first group of people, the subject pulled out a gun and began firing at them.
Two people were hit. One suffered an injury to the femoral artery, a potentially life threatening wound requiring surgery at a local hospital; this victim has been stabilized.
A second victim was suffered a bullet grazing wound.
