ELB Rapist Strikes In Belmont Heights (Broadway Near Ximeno) On June 26...And Police Say Physical Evidence Links Him to 8 LB Rapes + 1 in Huntington Beach + 1 in Los Alamitos

(July 24, 2002) -- LBPD says a rapist who has terrorized ELB and surrounding OC areas struck in Belmont Heights in the area of Broadway near Ximeno on June 26...and police have physical evidence connecting him to 8 rapes in LB, plus one in Huntington Beach and one in Los Alamitos.

In the June 26 attack, police say a 61 year old woman was assaulted at 2:30 a.m. in her bed.

LBPD describes the attacker as a man of medium height and build. Police can't offer further details because the rapist covers the faces of his victims or his own face. Following attacks in April, LBPD urged residents to lock their doors and windows.

As previously reported by LBReport.com, LBPD plans to give an overview of recent ELB sexual assaults as well as provide information on personal safety, Neighborhood Watch and home security at a "Community Awareness Forum," Thursday July 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Jefferson Leadership Academy, 750 Euclid Ave.

The event is sponsored by 3d district Councilman Frank Colonna, the public is invited and it's free.
