July 11: Another Drive By Shooting From A Bicycle in NLB

200 block Norton St.

(July 12, 2002) -- There has been a second drive by shooting from a bicycle in less than a week in NLB.

On July 11 at roughly 9:30 p.m., LBPD responded to the 200 block of Norton St. [area between 56th and 57th St, west of Atlantic near Dairy Ave.] in the 8th Council district. Officers found a victim lying on the grass in front of a residence with a serious gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to a local hospital and reported in critical condition.

The suspect is described as a male Black in his 20's on a bicycle. It is not certain that this crime is linked to a drive by shooting from a bicycle less than a week ago.

As previously reported by LBReport.com, on July 6 a 17 year old LB resident was shot to death, and a second victim was wounded, in the area of 60th St. and Cherry Ave. (9th district) when they were standing outside and two suspects rode by on a (single) bicycle and fired numerous gunshots at them.
