(July 2, 2002) -- A man walking on PCH near Chestnut Ave. (border of the 1st and 6th Council districts) was shot to death shortly after midnight today.

Police say the pedestrian was approached by an unknown number of subjects and shot several times in the upper torso. After being treated on scene by LBFD paramedics, he was transported to a local hospital where he died at 1:37 a.m.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification by the L.A. County Coroner's Office.
