(July 5, 2002) -- LB Unified School District Legal Adviser Theodore Buckley has given a written response to school board activist Reyna Akers who (at the June 18 School Board meeting, previously reported by LBReport.com) questioned and sought information concerning the $198,000 annual salary proposed under a four year contract for new School Superintendent Chris Steinhauser.
Following Ms. Akers testimony, the Board approved the arrangement by a 5-0 vote.
LBReport.com has obtained from Ms. Akers a copy of Mr. Buckley's letter to her dated June 25. (We learned of it when Ms. Akers publicly mentioned it during the Board's July 2 meeting, separately reported by LBReport.com).
We post Mr. Buckley's letter verbatim in pdf form on the links below. It is divided into two files of roughly equal size to facilitate loading (some computers choke when downloading larger files).
The first file contains Mr. Buckley's three page text plus two pages of attachments (salary comparisons referenced in the letter). The second file contains excerpts of a third party group's tenure and salary survey for what it calls "urban school superintendents" (also attached and referenced in the letter).
In other words, the two files together comprise Mr. Buckley's correspondence.
