Police Seek Public's Help Re Fatal Accident, July 27, Cherry Ave. at Tehachapi Dr. (b/w Carson St. & 45th St.)

(July 29, 2002) -- If you saw a terrible traffic accident on Saturday afternoon, July 27 near Cherry Ave. and Tehachapi Dr. (near All Souls Cemetery) that resulted in death and injuries, LBPD is asking for your help.

Police say a 1999 Ford Contour driven by a 23 year old LB resident was attempting to turn left onto Cherry from Tehachapi and was hit by a 2001 Honda motorcycle going south on Cherry.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 32 year old LB resident, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and a passenger on the motorcycle -- his six year old son -- was killed.

The driver of the Ford Contour was treated for injuries at a local hospital and released.

LBPD investigators are asking anyone who may have sen the collision, or the events leading up to it, to call Accident Investigator Brian Watt at (562) 570-7355.
