(July 10, 2003) -- Caltrans has announced the completion -- ahead of schedule -- of its weekend closures of the 710 freeway.
In a written release, the agency says ten 55-hour weekend closures were scheduled for a major project pavement rehabilitation project that installed new asphalt...and Caltrans finished the work in a record time of eight weekends.
The weekend closures enabled 2.9-miles of 710 pavement rehab between PCH and the 405 freeway.
Less disruptive -- but important -- work will continue (without weekend closures), including replacing the metal median with concrete barriers and widening the freeway shoulders.
The entire project is scheduled for completion this fall.
