Multiple Shots Fired, LB Resident Dies, 400 block Almond Ave.

(July 20, 2004) -- LBPD says the following events occurred on Monday July 19 at about 10:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Almond Ave. (area 4th/Orange, 2d Council district)

After responding to a "shots fired" call, LBPD says its preliminary investigation indicated that a male Hispanic suspect walked up to a house, allegedly fired several shots at a man standing outside of his residence and missed him...after which the suspect walked to another residence on the same street and fired several times at another man standing in front of his residence.

That victim was hit, transported to a local hospital...and pronounced dead.

The victim was a 28 year old LB resident. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

LBPD says it considers the homicide gang related and ask anyone with information about this incident to call LBPD's Homicide Detectives Chris Cardoza or Dan Mendoza at (562) 570-7244.
