(July 3, 2004) -- A LB man allegedly shot and killed his son this afternoon as the son drove off after the two had an argument.

LBPD Public Information Officer Greg Schirmer told LBReport.com that Alex Newman, 22, of LB had left a residence in the 1700 block of Lemon Ave. and was driving southbound when police allege his father, Henry Newman, 57, fired a gun at his son.

The younger Mr. Newman was struck in the torso, crashed into a building and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His father has been taken into custody.
