    500 Block Almond Ave: Officer Involved Shooting re Armed Kidnapping Suspect


    (July 13, 2004, updated text) -- On July 13, LBPD officers were involved in a shooting after attempting to arrest a kidnapping suspect.

    LBPD says in a written release that at roughly 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Almond Ave. to investigate a possible kidnapping and as officers gathered information, a male subject arrived in a vehicle...whom witnesses ID'd as a possible kidnapping suspect.

    Officers approached the suspect who was sitting in his vehicle, saw the suspect was armed with a handgun and the shooting occurred, the release says.

    The suspect, identified as a male Hispanic in his 30s, was treated for a gunshot wound to his arm at a local hospital.transported to a local hospital. The officer was not injured.

    LBPD and the L.A. County D.A. will be conducting an investigation of the events.
