(July 12, 2004) -- Within two minutes after receiving a 1 p.m. call from a bank in the 100 block of west Ocean Blvd. reporting an attempted robbery, LBPD had a suspect in custody...thanks to fast work by cops and bank employees.
In a written release, LBPD says a man walked into the bank, allegedly handed a teller a demand note...and the teller walked away from her window while another employee phoned the police. The suspect left the bank without receiving any money...and a bank employee gave LBPD a description of the man who allegedly presented the demand note.
Barely two minutes later LBPD stopped and arrested a 52-year man it described as a transient and parolee in the area of Ocean Blvd. and Pacific Ave. He's been booked for attempted bank robbery as well as an outstanding parole violation.
