Water Main Breaks on 4th b/w Cherry & Junipero, H2O in Street & Some Stores

Water break July 3/04(July 3, 2004) -- At late afternoon July 3, a 10 inch water main somehow broke on 4th St., sending H2O onto the south side of the street roughly midway between Cherry Ave. and Junipero Ave.

Water break July 3/04Not a disaster, but definitely an unpleasant adventure, it sent water into some stores.

Water break July 3/04LBPD closed off 4th b/w Cherry and Junipero and Water Dept. crews got busy, using giant keys to shut off the water, find the problem and fix it.

Robert Cheng, Water Quality Manager with the LB Water Dept. told LBReport.com that at early evening (a little after 6 p.m.) the water was off along one block of 4th from Cherry to Junipero, and on Dawson Ave. from 4th to 6th St.

The water will be off until crews can isolate and fix the problem, hopefully by midnight, perhaps sooner, with luck.
