(July 3, 2005) -- Don't try this at home: three LB juveniles were apprehended on July 2 in the area of Downey Ave. and Hedda St. after allegedly trying to make bottle bombs using fireworks.
That's not only very dangerous but legally it's a big deal, says LBFD Public Information Officer Paul Rodriguez.
"The explosives are highly unstable and dangerous, and if the juveniles had been adults, the law treats this type of thing as an 'incendiary explosive device' (i.e like a pipe bomb) which carries $500,000 bail and, if convicted, state prison. (That won't happen in this case; because the case will be handled under the separate juvenile justice system.)
And yes, all fireworks are illegal in Long Beach.
