News Two Alleged High Speed Vehicles Approx. 1 a.m., Bluff Park Area/2900 Block Ocean Blvd.; Collisions Affect Three Parked Cars + Two Pedestrians + Drivers + Passengers
(July 11, 2006, updated with photos) -- LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBReport.com that at about 1 a.m. today, two vehicles said by witnesses to be traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound Ocean Blvd. in the Bluff Park area, lost control and the following ensued (area 2900 block Ocean Blvd.):
One vehicle (driver and two passengers inside) smashed into a tree, then a light standard and ended up against the curb near another tree.

The other vehicle (driver and two passengers inside) crossed the eastbound lanes of Ocean Blvd, crashed into a parked vehicle (two people inside), which hit a vehicle behind it, with hit a vehicle behind it [three cars, accordion style]. The moving (high speed) vehicle then went on to hit two pedestrians (who tried to move out of the way but still got hit)...and the vehicle came to rest about ten feet from the edge of the bluff. [!]

Ten people suffered a range of injuries from minor scratches to broken bones [incredibly, no one killed]. LBFD transported the injured to local hospitals.
No one is in custody as we post...but the case has been referred to LBPD's Accident Investigation Detail which is continuing its investigation as we post.
