(July 14, 2009) -- LBReport.com has learned that a public meeting scheduled to discuss a controversial proposal to implement some type of valet parking in Belmont Shore -- on which basic meeting information (including agenda, backup material and the like) wasn't available to the public (or to LBReport.com when he asked about it) -- has been cancelled.
In an email to Belmont Shore Residents Association President Mike Ruehle and 3rd dist. Councilman Gary DeLong, Kurt Schneiter (who chairs a City Hall appointed advisory body on shore area parking and business matters) indicates that "due to [a] concert in the park -- this week's valet parking public meeting is cancelled" and a "future date will be announced shortly."
The "concert in the park" is the previously scheduled (and usually well attended) Thursday night Belmont Shore Municipal Band Concert at Marine Stadium (already calendared when the valet parking meeting was scheduled).
When LBReport.com sought details last week on the valet parking meeting (subject matter, details, source, etc.) after the Grunion Gazette first reported the scheduled event, Councilman DeLong's Chief of Staff, Anne Cramer, said the meeting was being arranged by city staff/Traffic Engineer Dave Roseman. "So it's not your deal," we asked? "It's not our meeting; it's city staff's," she replied.
When we left a message seeking information from Traffic Engineer Roseman or his staff subordinates last week, we didn't hear back...which isn't typical of his office (which is quite efficient at follow-through).
Further as we learn it...on LBReport.com.
