(July 11, 2009) -- If past years are any indication, a large crowd is expected for today's 4th annual Bixby Knolls Dragster Expo and Car Show. (Below are scenes from last year's event)

This year's show will take place Sat. July 11 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Atlantic Avenue between Carson Street and San Antonio Drive and is expected to include vintage dragsters, racers, funny cars, power boats and the Beach City Chevrolet Corvette funny car (a replica of the famous Corvette funny car first to top 200+ mph).

Organizers say there'll be over 150 classic and show cars, kids activities including a "Pinewood Derby," food and retail vendors, a beer garden, a mechanical bull ride and live music by local artists.

The event is organized by the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association in cooperation with the office 8th dist. Councilwoman Rae Gabelich.

A portion of the event's net proceeds will go to the LB Special Olympics.
