  • (July 2, 2009) -- ELB residents saw police activity in the area of Bellflower/Del Amo Blvds. at early evening Thursday (July 2) when officers conducted a traffic stop at about 6:30 p.m. on a vehicle whose records indicated it had been stolen.

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt says officers had one suspect (the vehicle passenger) in custody immediately...but the driver fled into the nearby residential neighborhood.

LBPD units converged on the scene (sirens were audible along Bellflower Blvd from the 405 freeway northward); a perimeter was set up...and officers found the second suspect hiding under a car. LBPD had him in custody shortly after 8:00 p.m.
