(July 22, 2012) -- The current and immediate past presidents of the Belmont Shore Residents Association have submitted written materials urging the City Council to deny a permit for entertainment with dancing sought by Panama Joe's, 5100 E. 2nd St. in Belmont Shore.
BSRA President Kurt Borsting, emailing on behalf of the organization, and current board member (former BSRA president Aileen Colon) expressed their views in opposition to the requested permit. Other area residents, including longtime community advocate Melinda Cotton, likewise urged denial of the requested permit. One homeowner, Robert Eppele, advised requiring Panama Joe's and other bars to pay for increased LBPD patrols during their peak hours, and closing several of the busiest streets heading to the water setting up "control points entering into and out of the Shore." As always, LBReport.com will carry LIVE video of the City Council proceedings on our front page on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m. at www.LBReport.com.
