| (July 21, 2012) -- We regret to report that another Wrigley-area resident recently returned home to find their home burglarized.
LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt confirms that on July 19 (Thursday) just after 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Eucalyptus Ave. where suspect(s) entered via a window and stole an unknown amount of jewelry. This residential burglary comes on the heels of at least two others in the 1900 block of Locust Ave. on July 13. One victim lost jewelry and paperwork; the other lost cash. Earlier this month, we separately learned that during the nighttime/overnight hours of June 30-July 1, a resident in the area of 19th St./Magnolia Ave. had her jogging stroller stolen from her locked and gated backyard. "The lock didn't quite break but they were able to pry the gate open," she tells us. (photo right). LBPD's investigation of the latest burglaries is ongoing...and anyone with information is asked to call LBPD's Burglary Detail at (562) 570-7351. As previously reported by LBReport.com, across town east of Cherry Ave., as of April 2012 property crimes were up by almost 22% over 2011. [Context: In recent years, LB has had record or near record lows in a number of crime categories.] In May 2012, LBReport.com reported that a father attending his son's musical concert at Gant Elementary School in the Los Altos area had his car burglarized while in the school's parking lot (during daylight hours approaching dusk). LBReport.com comment: Although these crimes are technically counted as "crimes against property," victims will tell you that in their real-world impacts, they are crimes against people. Further as we learn it on LBReport.com.
