(UPDATE July 2, 2013, 10:35 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has received the following email reply from the Damon Dunn campaign via its press release-listed contact:
We believe in transparency and more importantly in accuracy in transparency. (July 1, 2013, 3:30 p.m.) -- At midmorning today (July 1), the Damon Dunn for Mayor campaign issued a release stating that its most recent campaign filing report will show $240,000 brought into the campaign. The release didn't disclose from whom the contributors came [names of persons, entities and their locations] or whether any of the sum was in money loaned to the campaign by the candidate or others. We emailed the press release contact person requesting a list the campaign's contributors and how much they gave. Receiving no response, we followed up with a telephone call to the press release contact; we reached voice mail and left a message. Campaigns routinely collect the information we requested because by law it must be disclosed in forms filed with the City Clerk's office no later than July 31. Campaigns can release the information sooner, but they don't have to release it until it's due for filing by July 31. The Dunn for Mayor release included the following quote it attributed to the candidate: "Our message that City Hall must engage the community, be more transparent, and be more committed to creating good paying local jobs is making an impact..." If the Dunn campaign provides the information requested -- which comprise the "who" (sources) and the "what" (cash or loans) of this story -- we'll gladly publish it swiftly. Whether or not the Dunn campaign provides the information now, LBREPORT.com will link the full list of the campaign's contributors which is due to filed on or before July 31.
