(July 1, 2013) -- Kevin Woyjeck, who grew up in Seal Beach and attended Los Alamitos High School, was among the 19 firefighters who perished in the wildfire near Yarnell, AZ.

Firefighter Woyjeck (photo right from his Facebook page) was 21 years old.

He moved to Prescott, AZ to serve with the Granite Mountain Hot Shot Crew, which is part of the City of Prescott, AZ's fire department.

His Facebook page included the self-description below.

CAVEAT: We don't know how many of those in the City of Prescott photo right were among those who perished in the wildfire.

For a description of the type of assignments undertaken by the Hot Shot crew, see the National Geographic story at this link.

Mr. Woyjeck's father is Joe Woyjeck, a Captain with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
