[L.A. County Firefighters Ass'n text]...Kevin Woyjeck lived life to the fullest. He was working toward his dream of becoming a Los Angeles County Firefighter. In order to be a highly qualified candidate, he studied fire sciences, paramedicine, and worked as a wildland firefighter.

As a member of the Prescott Granite Mountain Hotshots, fighting the out of control Yarnell Hill Fire, Kevin, 21 years old, was killed Sunday June 30th, along with 18 other members of this elite firefighting crew. Hotshots are highly trained and prepared; they go in with their tools on their backs...

Kevin loved the out of doors. He always had the biggest smile and followed his free spirit to find adventure. He moved to Prescott to be close to the snow filled mountains so he could snowboard more often. When he came back to Seal Beach, he spent his time on his beloved Boston Whaler fishing and SCUBA diving for lobsters. Woyjeck was always ready to help his father around The Los Angeles County Fire Museum. He was "in training" learning the history of the department as he worked on the rigs alongside our team.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Los Angeles County Fire Captain Joe and Anna Woyjeck, his brother Bobby and sister Maddy.
