Multiple Parked Cars Struck Overnight (July 26), Area Hill St/Long Beach Blvd. In Alleged Hit/Run; Suspect Is Taken to Hospital As PD Investigates For Possible DUI When Suspect Allegedly Flees; LBPD Puts Up Containment Perimeter, Gets Him Back In Custody After 5+ Hour Search


(July 26, 2014) -- LBRPEORT.com has learned that multiple parked cars in the area of Hill St./Long Beach Blvd. were struck today (July 26) in the 1 a.m. hour in an alleged hit/run incident. LBPD located and arrested a suspect who was taken to a hospital and was being investigated for possible DUI...when the suspect allegedly fled from officers.

LBPD conducted a roughly five and a half hour search (with perimeter), found him again and take him back into custody, this time in the 1300 block of Linden Ave. shortly before 10 a.m.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson says that on July 26 at about 1:35 a.m., officers were dispatched in the area of Hill St./Long Beach Blvd. regarding what appears to be a "hit and run" incident in which multiple parked cras were struck.

At 2:20 a.m., officers located and arrested a man (adult) in the 400 block of E. 19th St. and the suspect was transported to a local hospital for further investigation of Driving Under the Influence..

At 4:20 a.m., the suspect allegedly fled from officers during the investigation at the hospital. A perimeter was established around the area and the suspect was located and taken into custody in the 1300 block of Linden at 09:55 a.m.

LBPD's investigation is ongoing.
