(July 3, 2015) -- After two predawn Long Beach "smash and grab" robberies/burglaries -- one to a jewelry store in the Traffic Circle area in the 2 a.m hour, another to a game store in the 400 block of West Anaheim St in the 3 a.m. hour -- two men (adults) are in Westminster PD custody (a third remains at large) after WPD officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 4 a.m. hour in which the suspects were allegedly loading stolen goods into a vehicle after driving it into the window of a Sprint store in the 6700 block of Westminster Blvd. At midday July 3, this is how the ELB/Traffic Circle area jewelry store looked in the 4600 block Los Coyotes Diagonal (near the "Marshalls" store...and just a quick walk from LBPD's East Division station on LCD (photos below): . |
LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com officers were dispatched to the jewelry store burglary (4600 block Los Coyotes Diagonal) at about 2:20 a.m....and to the W. Anaheim St. burglary location at about 3:27 a.m. PIO Arrona says the Traffic Circle jewelry store suffered a "significant loss" of jewelry and the W. Anaheim St. game store suffered a loss to be determined. Meanwhile, a stolen pick up truck matching the description of the Traffic Circle "smash and grab" robbery/burglary was recovered in the 1400 block of Chestnut Ave. (area near 14th St/Seaside Park.) At about 4:30 a.m., Westminster PD reports having a similar incident (6700 block Westminster Blvd.) in which its officers responded to a burglary in progress call at the Spring store in the 6700 block of Westminster Blvd (WPD says its first officer on scene in about 90 seconds.)
