(July 4, 2016, 2:50 a.m.) -- Below are photos of the July 3 "Big Bang on the Bay" fireworks display over Alamitos Bay, an event organized annually by John Morris of Boathouse on the Bay with proceeds benefiting local charities.
The photos below were captured as you see them in real time. They're not "photo-shopped." They're timed exposures, captured by 16 year old Max Pearl, who enjoys photography (from its Greek word roots "drawing with light.") Max is planning to study aeronautical engineering and astronomy. Enjoy his photography below. As separately reported by LBREPORT.com, the Alamitos Bay fireworks display was preceded and will be followed by water quality testing and a number of best management practices designed to protect water quality from fireworks fallout.
