(July 14, 2016) -- Two men walking on South St. from Clark Ave. (Lakewood) while playing "PokemonGo" on their cell phones became victims of an attempted armed robbery and assault on Wednesday July 13 at about 2:40 a.m.
The L.A. County Sheriff Department's Lakewood station says the two men had been plaing PokemonGo on their cell phones when a tan, possibly a Chevy Impala, pulled alongside the victims; a male black adult passenger exited the vehicle and allegedly approached the victims with a black handgun and demanded the victim's property." [LASD text] One of the victims charged at the suspect and began to struggle with the suspect for the firearm. During the struggle, the victim was [allegedly] hit multiple times in the face with the handgun by the suspect. The suspect ran back to the tan vehicle, which then sped toward the victims and [allegedly] attempted to run over them. The victims were able to get out of the way before being struck by the vehicle.
