(July 17, 2017, updated 5:20 a.m.) -- A man and a woman are found dead in a Seal Beach apartment after a woman phoned SBPD (July 16, approx. 7:20 p.m.), the call disconnects, neighbors hear shots...and residents of the neighborhood (area 7th/Central) are told to stay indoors and a SWAT response follows.
(July 16, 2017, 11:10 p.m.) -- Seal Beach PD PIO says at about 7:20 p.m., dispatch received a call from a woman and line disconnects; nearby residents report hearing gunshots. As of 11 p.m., situation remains ongoing with heavy police presence in area just north of Seal Beach pier. SBPD is tight-lipped, cites safety of officers, is treating situation as a barricaded individual, won't confirm if officers or SWAT have made contact with the individual in an apartment complex, urges Seal Beach residents nearby to remain in their homes.

(July 16, 2017, 8:10 p.m.) -- At late afternoon-early evening Sunday July 16, people attending the Seal Beach Fish Fry (Ocean Blvd. near Main Street) were told to leave immediately, and a Seal Beach police helicopter told Seal Beach residents [paraphrase via resident] "If you can hear announcement go inside your house and lock doors and windows."

Residents posted quick messages on the Seal Beach CA Facebook group regarding some type of shooter situation, perhaps a barricaded shooter.

Seal Beach residents reported seeing a heavy SBPD presence along with Los Alamitos PD assisting. In the 8 p.m. hour, Seal Beach PD sent this emergency text message: "Police activity in 700 blk of 7th St. regarding shots heard -- Please stay inside your home or out pf the area until further notice."
