(July 25, 2018, 12:15 p.m.) -- The Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association and Councilwoman Stacy Mungo both indicate on their Facebook pages that a community meeting is planned for Saturday July 28 at 9 a.m. at Lakewood Village Community Church, 4515 Sunfield Ave., regarding the July 21 fatal shooting in Pan American Park that took the life of Long Beach resident Fred Taft.

Their announcements indicate that LBPD East Division Commander Herzog will have information from LBPD's Detective Bureau to share "and answer the questions he is legally able to answer" hoping to eliminate "misinformation."

The Church Hall entrance is off Sunfield. Organizers ask for questions in advance to Councilwoman Mungo's office at District5@longbeach.gov to give LBPD staff an opportunity to prepare a presentation that answers as many questions as possible before taking questions from attendees.

In a separate but related development, social network dispatches by third parties indicate that a memorial event for Mr. Taft is planned for 10:30 a.m. on the same morning (July 28) in Pan Am Park for those wishing to pay their respects to the family.
