(July 31, 2018, 6:15 a.m.) -- Less than twelve hours after LASD's bomb squad (LBPD doesn't have one) responded at midmorning July 30 to a suspicious device in ELB's Heartwell Park (area Parkcrest St just east of Clark Ave.), the bomb squad was back, about a mile east on the ELB-Lakewood border (area Palo Verde Ave./Conant St.) for a second suspicious device.

Official information is very sketchy. The second call out (photos below) lasted for several hours from (nearby residents say) roughly 6 p.m. into the 10 p.m. hour.

Lakewood Sheriff's Station's overnight Watch Commander said the bomb squad took a sample from the object at Palo Verde/Conant to test whether it did or didn't contain explosive material and the results weren't immediately available.

Developing. Further as we learn it.
