Muni Band Concerts Begin Tues. June 24, Run Thru August 15, We Post Schedule

(June 22, 2003) -- LB's Municipal Band begins its traditional summer concert series on Tuesday. June 24 and rolls through August 15. We post the schedule below. (For quick reference, we've also put a link to the Muni Band schedule on LBReport.com's front page (www.lbreport.com) in the horizontal bar immediately below our top stories.)

LB Municipal Band concerts are free to attend (LB-taxpayer funded, augmented by contributions).

The Long Beach Municipal Band, conducted by Larry Curtis, is in its 94th season, making it the longest surviving, municipally supported band in the country.

LB's Dept. of Parks, Recreation & Marine says the "band's focus this year is on the great sounds of America - from patriotic anthems to great dance music to sounds of the silver screen...Each of the eight weeks of the season will focus on a different theme and the music will be performed by the band's 37 professional musicians. To cap off several performances, concert audiences will be treated to a lineup of special vocalists - accompanied by the Long Beach Municipal Band's Studio Band."

    Enjoy!
