City Mgt. Sets July 1 Public Meeting Soliciting "Community Members' Assistance In Obtaining Health Data Reports & Issues For Consideration" In Completing Pending Citywide Health Risk Assessment
(June 28, 2004) -- Long Beach City Hall has issued the following release, which we post verbatim:
A meeting to solicit community members’ assistance in obtaining health data reports and issues for consideration in completing the citywide Comprehensive Human Health Risk Assessment will be held on Thursday, July 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Miller Family Health Education Center at 3820 Cherry Avenue in Long Beach.
At the request of the City Council, an environmental consultant was hired in January 2004 to conduct an overall health impact study in Long Beach. Montgomery-Watson-Harza, Inc. (MWH) was selected to analyze data related to air quality in the city and the noise impact from the Long Beach Airport.
MWH is currently in the process of reviewing existing studies to analyze the air and noise impact measures and is developing models that will determine the level of health risk to the public.
Community members are welcome to participate in the public meeting and contribute information that may lead to additional findings and studies that will be beneficial to the Comprehensive Human Health Risk Assessment. Once completed, a final report is scheduled for release in late summer with a public presentation to follow.
