LB Area Cong. Rohrabacher Proposes Putting Pres. Reagan On $20 Bill
(June 9, 2004) -- Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R., HB-LB-PV), whose district includes eastern parts of LB and Belmont Shore areas, has proposed putting former President Ronald Reagan's image on $20 bills.
LBReport.com posts below the text of a June 8 "Dear Colleague" letter from Congressman Rohrabacher to fellow members of Congress. The text was provided to us on request by Cong. Rohrabacher's DC office.
Cong. Rohrabacher, a former OC Register editorial writer, served as a speechwriter during the Reagan presidency.
Dear Colleague:
This week, our nation mourns the passing of one of America's most significant leaders. Regardless of party loyalty, we are all joining together to say farewell to the man whose determination and resolve led to a new era of freedom and democracy, not only throughout the Soviet Union, but the world.
President Reagan's steadfast leadership won the cold war, revitalized our economy, rebuilt our military, lowered taxes, cut bureaucratic red tape and gave back the American dream to America.
Help me to pay tribute to President Ronald Reagan's lasting imprint on America's economy, culture and enduring vision of freedom, democracy and liberty for all. Join me in honoring him by placing his likeness on the $20 bill. Let us never forget President Ronald Wilson Reagan...
The letter invites members of Congress to co-sponsor the "President Ronald Reagan $20 Bill Act."
As of this posting, the bill itself hasn't been introduced. Stay tuned.
