(June 22, 2005) -- LBReport.com has the following ELB freeway and traffic alert.

CalTrans has scheduled bridge-deck repair work on the northbound lanes of the 605 freeway just beyond Katella in Los Alamitos from late night June 24th to about dawn in Monday June 27. This will affect the northbound 605 in the area of Katella (Willow), the Katella onramp to the northbound 605, and connections to the northbound 605 from the 405 and SR22/7th St./Studebaker

CalTrans says "Full freeway closures and lane restrictions will be in effect." The northbound 605 will be reduced to two lanes during the daytime...and at night, the northbound 605 freeway will be closed as follows:

• Friday, June 24th midnight to Saturday, June 25th 6:00 a.m.
• Saturday, June 25th midnight to Sunday, June 26th 7:00 a.m.
• Sunday, June 26th midnight to Monday, June 27th 5:00 a.m.
• The Katella Avenue onramp to northbound 605 will also be closed from 10:00 p.m. Friday, June 24 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, June 27.

"Portions of the existing bridge, originally built in 1964, will be replaced with a new and improved bridge deck," CalTrans says. The agency adds, "Motorists are advised that the restricted lanes can cause travel delays and that they should use alternate routes to reach their destination."

CalTrans says this is the "final phase of an ongoing freeway improvement project to connect an High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lane to the existing north and southbound I-605 HOV lanes. The work will provide a smoother roadway that will complete or enhance the new HOV segment." .

CalTrans adds: "Detours will be posted to alert motorists and every effort will be made to minimize the impacts of construction to residents and businesses. In a construction zone, motorists are reminded to 'slow for the cone zone', be alert and proceed with caution."

Here are CalTrans' detours for late Friday, June 24th through dawn Monday, June 27:

Detour for northbound 405 traffic to northbound 605: Exit Seal Beach Boulevard off-ramp. Follow northbound Seal Beach /Los Alamitos Boulevards to Cerritos/Spring Street. Make a left turn at Cerritos/Spring to the northbound I-605 on-ramp

Detour for southbound I-405 to northbound I-605: Take Palo Verde Avenue off-ramp. Follow northbound Palo Verde Avenue to Spring Street. Turn right at Spring Street to the northbound I-605 on-ramp.

Detour for eastbound SR-22/eastbound 7th Street/northbound Studebaker Road to northbound I-605: 7th Street/ eastbound SR-22 to northbound Studebaker Road to Spring Street. Make a right turn at Spring Street to the northbound I-605 on-ramp
