(June 5, 2007, from front page posting) -- A two and half hour June 5 agenda item on the Southeast Area Development & Improvement Plan (SEADIP) that heard multiple public speakers oppose increased SE development and density and criticize the process by which Councilman DeLong and city staff advanced proposed SEADIP revisions.
The City Council ultimately voted 9-0 for a consensus motion (originally proposed by Gabelich, ultimately embraced by DeLong) that sent the item to city planning staff (not to the Planning Commission) with instructions to develop a process to maximize further public input.
The motion as restated by Vice Mayor Lowenthal (presiding) included staff-sought verbiage directing preparation of an amendment to SEADIP with inclusive community outreach.
The staff-directed process would include periodic reports by staff to Council with input from the Planning Comm'n...and the Council would consider SEADIP again before actually referring the item to the Planning Comm'n.
