(June 15, 2007) -- A woman died and her fellow passenger was seriously injured when their car was rear-ended while waiting at red light on Wardlow Rd. at Clark Ave. in ELB.
LBPD says that on June 14 at roughly 9:20 p.m., officers came upon the collision which involved a 1998 Saturn, stopped and waiting for a red light to change when it was struck from behind by a 1997 Ford SUV which police allege was traveling at a high-rate of speed.
A passenger in the Saturn, Phyllis Johnson, 67, of Norwalk, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by LBFD paramedics. The driver of the Saturn, Michael Durain, 45, of Norwalk was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the SUV that rear-ended the Saturn, Christina Reeder-Sajor, 41, of Tustin, escaped serious injury...while a three-year old child in her vehicle was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
LBPD arrested and booked Ms. Reeder-Sajor into LB's jail on charges of felony manslaughter.
