(June 27, 2009) -- Dawn breaks on a tent city at LB's Blair Field, after more than one hundred Cub Scouts and their families camped out.
The bleary-eyed scouts were long on excitement but short on sleep. They led the Friday night flag salute then watched the LB Armada beat the OC Flyers 10-7 in a game that ended well past 10 p.m., followed by lights-out at midnight.
The families packed up tents and sleeping bags, and packed in a continental breakfast, before the scouts and siblings were treated to a baseball skills clinic by equally bleary-eyed but enthusiastic Armada players.
The clinic ended with bat tricks by player Josh Womack...
...and a motivational talk by former LA Dodger now-Armada pitcher Jose Lima ("Stay in school, do your homework...work hard.")
Lima then signed balls, mitts and shirts for the children.
Event leaders say it was the fourth annual Scout-Armada baseball weekend, and the most successful.
