(June 21, 2009) -- An ELB neighborhood awoke on Sunday morning (June 21) to find itself inside an police containment perimeter as LBPD officers mounted a no-nonsense search (including a K-9 officer) for auto burglary suspects.
LBReport.com provided updates on the situation with advisories on our front page at www.lbreport.com
LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Dina Zapalski says the area affected stretched from basically Spring St. to Wardlow Rd. and Nipomo Ave. to Studebaker Rd.
PIO Zapalski says officers were dispatched to a suspicious person/vehicle at about 6:20 a.m. in the 3100 block of Ladoga Ave. and found an auto burglary had occurred and officers spotted a suspect matching the description jump a wall.
A secure containment perimeter was established and a police dog was brought in. For a time residents, were asked to stay inside until the suspect was found and the search was completed.
PIO Zapalski says a search of the neighborhood yielded the suspect's accomplice who is on parole...and he was arrested.
A suspect vehicle was discovered and what is believed to be the loss from other neighborhood auto burglary has been recovered.
LBPD says its primary suspect has been identified, who is also on parole...and his arrest is pending.
The containment perimeter was lifted shortly after 9:00 a.m.
