LB Schoolboard Member Michael Ellis, Absent For Four Consecutive Board Meetings, Tells LBUSD Sup't Staff That He Expects To Attend Next School Board Meeting
(June 30, 2009) -- LBReport.com has learned that LB School Boardmember Michael Ellis, who last attended a School Board meeting on May 5 and has been absent from four that have followed (May 19, June 2, 16, 23 [special meeting]) today spoke with LBUSD staff in the Superintendent's office and indicated that he expects to attend the Board's next meeting (July 7).
Boardmember Ellis was elected in 2006, virtually without opposition, after incumbent Schoolboard President Suja Lowenthal announced -- after filing papers to seek reelection -- that she would instead seek the City Council seat abruptly (and unexpectedly) vacated by Dan Baker.
Boardmember Ellis was one of three candidates then-backed by the Teachers of Association of LB in the 2006 election cycle; Dr. David Barton (now representing ELB/Lakewood areas) was elected in the same 2006 election cycle.
