(June 29,2009) -- On June 28, LBReport.com reported that someone was polling LB residents seeking their attitudes toward a possible parcel (property) tax for LB schools.
On June 29, the mystery (we believe) is solved.
The June 23, LB School Board agenda included the following item among its consent calendar (no discussion) items:
Agreement 3837.01 with FAIRBANK, MASLIN, MAULLIN & ASSOCIATES,
to conduct survey research to provide community input to the Board of
Education regarding a potential parcel tax. Agreement effective June 22, 2009
through November 30, 2009. Total cost, including reimbursable expenses, to
be a maximum of $29,250.
We wish we could take credit for spotting this on our own, but the truth is that LBUSD spokesman Chris Eftychiou pointed it out to us this morning. [Thank you, sir.]
As LBReport.com previously reported, a news tipster advised us of the call received Saturday (June 27) that asked about general attitudes toward tax increases, then read several statements and asked if they would make the caller-recipient more or less likely to vote for a parcel property tax for schools.
