Man Is Shot Minutes Before Midnight, 1300 block Lemon Ave.

(June 17, 2012) -- A man (adult) was shot minutes before midnight on Sunday night (June 17) in the 1300 block of Lemon Ave. (just east of MLK Ave.)

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt says that at about 11:55 p.m., the victim was approach by an unknown suspect and was shot by a suspect who fled the area. The victim suffered what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting comes two days after a shooting (June 15) in the 1900 block of Myrtle Ave. (just west of MLK Ave. and about six blocks north of the June 17 shooting). Both locations are in the 6th Council district..

LBPD says the latest incident appears to be gang-related and LBPD's investigation is ongoing. LBPD asks anyone with information to contact its Gang Enforcement Detail at (562) 570-7370. Anonymous tips may be submitted via text or web by visiting www.tipsoft.com.
