(June 26, 2012) -- A K9 officer helpd LBPD and U.S. Marshals take an alleged felony drug suspect into custody in Central LB late this afternoon (just east of Alamitos Ave., two blocks south of PCH).
LBPD Sgt. David Marander tells LBReport.com that an LBPD Detective was working with the U.S. Marshals to arrest a suspect allegedly wanted for felony drug warrants in three other states. The investigation led to the 1300 block of E. 16th St...where the suspect, Stanley Ward, 27, allegedly fled to try and avoid arrest. Sgt. Marander says LBPD set up a tight containment perimeter (affecting only about a block), brought in an LBPD K9 officer and made announcements urging the suspect to give himself up. When the suspect didn't do so, the K9 officer was deployed and found the suspect hiding in some bushes. The suspect was taken into custody...and treated for minor dog bites.
