LB's All-Volunteer Junior Concert Band Finds Place To Store Its Trucks/Containers BUT STILL Needs Rehearsal Hall, Will Lose Current Location July 16; Do You Have Or Know Of A Good Location?

VIDEO TELLS AMECO SOLAR'S STORY. AND CLICK HERE TO HEAR AMECO PRESIDENT PATRICK REDGATE EXPLAIN WHY SOLAR MAKES SUCH GOOD SENSE.

(June 15, 2012) -- There's good news and bad news for the all-volunteer Long Beach Junior Concert Band:

It HAS found a place to store its trucks and containers thanks to the generosity of Price Transfer at its warehouse in NLB.

HOWEVER, the Jr. Concert Band still HASN'T found a place to rehearse -- which requires 4,000 to 5,000 sq. ft. -- AND the City of Long Beach (which has been providing its current band hall) says it must leave its current location by July 16, 2012.

Simply put: the Long Beach Jr. Concert Band needs a rehearsal facility and small office in Long Beach or immediate surrounding areas within the next four weeks.

The LB Junior Concert Band, founded and led for over half a century by the Marvin Marker (who died suddenly in Dec. 2009) continues to welcome musicians ages 12-21 and has been a local treasure for 60 years.

Unlike the Long Beach Municipal Band -- whose conductor and musicians are paid -- none of the Jr. Concert Band's adult leaders or young musicians receive any compensation whatsoever. The Long Beach Jr. Concert Band is a non-profit, entirely volunteer organization whose alumni span several generations, a labor of love for its young performers and adult volunteers.

Band Treasurer Carrie Daquiado emails, "We just need a roof over our heads. We practice from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings."

If you or your friends know of a rehearsal facility (4,000-5,000 sq. ft) that the Jr. Concert Band could possibly use, they'd like to hear from you by email at lbjcb@aol.com.
