LBPD Commander Josef Levy -- Five Years Cancer Free Today -- Says Perspective Lets Him Never Have A Bad Day

VIDEO TELLS AMECO SOLAR'S STORY. AND CLICK HERE TO HEAR AMECO PRESIDENT PATRICK REDGATE EXPLAIN WHY SOLAR MAKES SUCH GOOD SENSE.

The email below was sent by LBPD West Division Commander Josef Levy to his friends. We asked for permission to publish it and he agreed.

(June 18, 2012) -- Hello Friends:

Happy June 18th, 2012. Today is special for a couple of reasons. Today, is our youngest son Noah's 11th birthday. Lysa and I will be celebrating when we watch him play another baseball all-star game tonight at 5:00pm. I am grateful that I will get the opportunity to watch Noah play tonight, because it was also five years ago today that I was told "Joey, you have cancer".

June 18th 2007, the day I refer to as the worst day and the best day of my life. The worst day because of the physical, mental and emotional toll the cancer experience took on my life and not knowing how long I would live. The best day because during my cancer journey, I have been able to gain perspective that allows me to "never have a bad day". I think you would agree that we should not "sweat the small stuff" and we should be living life to its fullest.

I am grateful to still be here today to celebrate another one of Noah's birthdays. Tonight, we will be bringing cake and ice cream to the baseball field and after our game, we will celebrate by singing happy birthday with all of Noah's baseball teammates.

On this special day, I want to thank my incredible wife Lysa, my boys Jacob, Adam, Nathan and Noah, and all my family and friends. You have all supported me in many different ways. And for that, I am grateful to have you in my life.

Love, JOE

Commander Levy didn't mention, but we do, that he has teamed with two other officers who are cancer survivors to create the National Law Enforcement Cancer Support Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals in the law enforcement community going through a cancer journey. LECSF is a nationwide organization driven by volunteers and supported by private donations. In addition to support, the LECSF provides ongoing cancer education, emphasizing early detection and prevention to all law enforcement personnel.
